Rev. Alberto Marquez pastors Faith Baptist Church/Iglesia Bautista “La fe,” in Glendale, Arizona. He graduated with a BA in Bible (‘96), and an MA in Pastoral Studies (‘98) from Bob Jones University, where he also met his wife, Adela. He is currentrly pursuing an MDiv. from International Baptist College in Chandler, AZ.
Pastor Alberto was born in Mexico City. He was born again at age 14 through the influence of a street preacher in Puebla, Mexico. Alberto and his wife have three children,: Aaron, Abigail, and Anna Sofia, all in Christian college. He planted “El Mesias Baptist Church” in Puebla, Mexico, in 1999. After the church was turned over to its new pastor in 2005, the Lord called the Marquez family to start a Spanish ministry in Glendale, AZ. By 2008, they became an independent, autonomous Spanish church, and in 2010, they became Faith Baptist Church/Iglesia Bautista La Fe, a fully bilingual Baptist church reaching a growing multi-cultural community.
Pastor Marquez has a burden to help plant new churches whether they hold services in Spanish, English or bilingually. The church often hosts “Cultural internships” for students from churches and Christian Colleges across America. He conducts an outreach ministry to reach professional baseball players from Latin America in Phoenix and Goodyear, Arizona through chapel services.
Pastor Marquez serves on the Board of Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. He is part of the Council of Five for the AARBC of Arizona, and serves on the committee of the NCHO Think Tank (https://www.nchothinktank.com). He is also an experienced Hispanic ministry consultant, conference speaker, and interpreter.
Jonathan Balasa serves as the assistant pastor at Faith Baptist Church/Iglesia Bautista “La fe” in Glendale, Arizona. He graduated with a BA in Pastoral Studies (‘16) and an MDiv (‘19) from Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Molly, met at their local church and were married in 2018. They enjoy cooking, exercising, and visiting local coffee shops together.
Jonathan was born in Indiana and was saved at an early age through the witness of his parents. When he was 12, his family moved to Utah, where he he had many opportunities to serve in the local church. During these years, he sensed a call to pastoral ministry and pursued that calling by attending Bible college and seminary. Jonathan and Molly are excited to be part of Faith Baptist Church/Iglesia Bautista “La fe,” and look forward to seeing how God will use their ministry for His glory.
